ReSettle: Navigating Uncertain Circumstances with Design

What is ReSettle's purpose?

It’s difficult entering a new country for the first time. You lack the connections and basic information of how things work or where things are.

Our client's goal is to create a centralized platform where immigrants and refugees can learn how to navigate the American life style, and become a place where they can find answers to their questions, so that our home can become their home as well.

What were ReSettle's areas of need?

Looking at possible areas of need, we decided on four major topics:

Education

1. How is the school system set up?
2. Where can I find a school for kids or adults?
3. What financial aid is available to me?

Home Life

1. How do you use all the appliances in the kitchen?
2. Where do I bring all the garbage?
3. What are key safety features I should know about?

Workplace

1. How do taxes work here?
2. Where can I find a job?
3. What does it look like to manage money in the area I live in?

Community

1. Are there other people like me in my area?
2. Where can I go to practice my religion?
3. What are some fun opportunities around me?
